Abstract
In this paper, a Phenomenological-based Semiphysical Model (PBSM) is developed to predict the behavior of hydrocyclones. The developed model is based on physical principles for which the compromise between accuracy and computation effort is considered, allowing its use in real time operation. The model contains 92 nonlinear algebraic equations, which are solved in less that 1 second. Several experiments were taken in a pilot plant to identify some parameters of the model and to validate the results.
