Abstract
The developed consensus presented aims to provide an evidence-based framework for the diagnostic approach and treatment of adult patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and to generate evidence-based recommendations for key decisions that need to be taken in the care of individual patients. As a result, a total of propose fifty-two recommendations are made in which the most relevant aspects related to the definition, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with ARDS are presented. GRADE (Degree of Recommendation, Development and Evaluation) methodology has been followed, with innovative aspects that are particularly presented in this consensus, with evaluation of the evidence related to the management of pregnant patients, prognosis, and areas of future development.
