Abstract
This work aims to reveal the conflicts over water that happened in the Ciénaga Grande del bajo Sinú, Colombia and the way in which organized peasant and indigenous communities, disputes. Qualitative research of descriptive scope is carried out with in-depth interviews, observation and review of literature, which allows to demonstrate the environmental pressures that alter the ecological balance of the muddy ecosystem and the community resilience strategies implemented. It is concluded that the own and ancestral knowledge constructed from everyday practices, is the source of power of the communities to counteract water disputes and build an alternative model of development that guarantees water and food security.
