Abstract

The strengthening of cooperatives in Colombia is reflected in the reconstruction of solidarity. It is a integration symbol and as well a symbol of the possibilities to join hopes and goals individually and collectively. The main target of this article is about the understanding about the cooperatives contribution in a municipality of Colombia and how this reflects an strategy that helps to achieve the peace in a region which have been violent during the last five decades. A qualitative investigation was carried out thorough some deeps interviews aimed at managers, employees, associates and non-associates of the municipal cooperatives, during 2017 and the first half of 2018, using an informal questionnaire. The information was analyzed in three categories: living with violence, cooperative strategies and peaceful living. Among the main findings we build a confident environment they learn to live in a humble way and the learning of forgiveness and respect of the human dignity comes up. As main conclusion we can find that when human beings work for a common goal (cooperatives), it is no longer personal because it's placed in the public sphere; in addition to, It consolidated as each member contributes to its development as an element of peace.
