    Abstract

The neurologic visual impairments in children have multiple etiologies, some are reversible and others aren't. The hydrocephalus is one of them and it is one of the most important and most common etiologies because it can generate permanent impairment. The cause of hydrocephalus is wide, whereof the principal is the interventricular hemorrhage. It generally happens when the germinal matrix bleeds, being very common in preterm newborns. In this article is presented a clinical case of a patient with cerebral palsy in childhood, interventricular hemorrhage and hydrocephalus, product of preterm multiple pregnancy, with optic atrophy in the childhood secondary to ventriculoperitoneal shunt dysfunction. During the rehabilitation and treatment period she received neurorehabilitation sessions, which let her improve the visual acuity and capacity. This case is compared with some others, in where there can be found similarities and differences between the presented cases and the implemented treatment in the recovery course of the visual capacity.
