Abstract

In this article a descriptive study is made of the spiritual experience that the students of the Pontificia Bolivariana University of Medellin have, taking into account the theoretical background offered by the theological turn of the French phenomenology and the scale to evaluate the daily spiritual experience (DSES) by Lynn G. Underwood (2006); The variables that were taken in this study were age, gender, race and scale scores, taking into account the behavioral effects of the divine experience as criteria variables. A sample of 317 students from 25 careers was taken, with ages between 17 and 55, of which 269 (85% of the sample) are between 17 and 23 years of age. In the results, discussion and conclusions, an analysis of spirituality is presented according to the values expressed by the scale, read under the lens of mystical experience and the phenomenology of donation. In fact, the approach to God offered by onto theology is fixed, invariable and conceptual; whereas mysticism does not pretend to explain who God is, but to relate to it, to experience it and to enjoy its effects, which ineluctably result in love for the other.
