Abstract
Introduction: to measure the consumption of drugs is a strategy to achieve a rational use but implementing it in the pediatric service is difficult. AIim: to propose a tool to make easier the measure of the drugs consumption in the neonatology service. Materials and methods: every month during 2018 the information of the consumption of six different antibiotics in three healthcare institutions was recorded. The treatment duration was validated and plotted. Results: it was demonstrated with R2>0,8, Syx<15 y R.pearson>0,8, correlation for each institution between calculation per treatment duration and defined daily dose; besides, with P>0,05 in slope and intercept it was established that a line predicted the behavior of the three institutions. Conclusion: the consumption of the drugs per treatment duration in a neonatology service is useful to compare drugs and evaluate the impact of clinical interventions.
