Abstract
In an era where technology and science are constantly advancing, training teachers in STEM education is crucial for preparing students for future jobs. This article describes the design and implementation of a formative methodology to integrate STEM education in elementary and secondary schools. The methodology incorporates elements of Design Thinking, active learning methodologies, and integrating educational technologies to address complex problems. The results suggest that the implemented methodology increased student motivation and participation. Teachers felt better equipped with pedagogical and technological tools, facilitating active teaching and problem-solving in the classroom. However, several challenges also emerged during the process. Barriers were identified when teachers integrated the STEM approach into existing curricula. The strategies for ongoing professional development are highlighted, including specific mechanisms for curricular integration and strategies to foster collaborative work among teachers. The methodology proved to be replicable, meaning it can be adapted and transferred to different educational contexts and scaled up by adjusting according to each institution's specific context.
