Nature-society relationship in the context of the Latin American city: Medellin, Colombia

Being the heirs of the Aristotelian legacy we ratify human supremacy over nature in different scales. Te city is evidence of this historical equation of social praxis. Tis article contemplates the Nature-Society relationship in a Latin American city, taking Medellin, Colombia, as its geographical context. In capitalist society the city is the place of (re) production of capital, which modifes its natural conditions and transforms its natural elements into facilitators of this production. Also Medellin has passed through various changes of economic, social and natural nature since the beginning of the 20^th century. Trough iconographic registers and information of the municipality, the relationship of domination over nature can be shown, responding to the interests of capital, market expansion and large interventions with its impacts on water resources and other biotic and abiotic elements with interest in occupation in areas of high declination.
