    Abstract

This paper presents a mixing model to predict the viscosity of diluted crude oil based on the mass fractions derived from the SARA fractions of the crude and PIANO fractions of the diluents for heavy and extra heavy crude mixtures diluted with naphtha and naphtha-diesel mixtures. Non-linearity of the relationship of the components with the viscosity was found, obtaining a coefficient of determination (R2) of 98% and a mean relative error of approximately 12%, similar to what the literature presents for recognized models such as Parkash or Refutas. The model could be extrapolated for mixtures of more than 3 substances.
