Abstract
This article analyzes the presence of nature in the novel Cuando aprendí a pensar (1962), by Pilarica Alvear Sanín (1942), one of the five Antioquian women writers who published novels in the twentieth century. The purpose is to characterize the hegemonic and non-hegemonic forms of nature, territories and animals that we perceive through the narrative voice of Juanita, a five-year-old girl. The territory is transparent in its anonymity, which, paradoxically, highlights its nature. An animality emerges from the interspecies relationships Juanita engages in with the dog and other non-human animals.
