Abstract

The "Bucaramanga Metropolitana cómo vamos" program is an example in which entrepreneurs and academics unite and act as overseers to track not only the government plans in the municipalities of Bucaramanga, Floridablanca, Piedecuesta and Giron, but also to measure citizen perception regarding fourteen sensitive variables in which health, education, security, mobility, and public management stand out to determine quality of life. This strategy is an example of companies' concern for the environment as part of their social responsibility, and demonstrates their awareness of the fact that the improvement of the region indicators represent a profitable situation for everyone. They also agree that the actions implemented have been useful to sensitize the population regarding their leading role in developing the city and its social welfare. However, there is still much to be done.
