Abstract
The emergence of gender and masculinity studies allowed the formation of groups of men who seek to transform masculinity following principles of equity and equality between genders. In this paper, we analyze the interpretive repertoires on the transformation of masculinity present in the discourse of twelve of these men. The results identify and analyze two repertoires, one of tension and flight, that traces an ontological division and describes the transformation as a flight from the influence of a model external to men. The second, self-management repertoire, describes the transformation of masculinity as an exercise in self-knowledge to generate change and alternativity. We conclude that these repertoires are complementary and function as an axiological demarcation that guides the action of change, in addition, these repertoires lead us to think of the transformation of masculinity as an ethical-political issue.
