    Abstract

In this paper, a novel Unequal Error Protection (UEP) Optimization algorithm in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) transmission systems for multimedia applications is presented. The main idea is to assign encoded information that has more relevance value in the carriers that have less chance of fade error to be transmitted. The relevance of information is established by the compaction of the image's energy produced by the discrete cosine transform, while the probability of error of the carriers is established by using the channel estimator. To check the algorithm the transmission of an image was simulated using some technical features which adopt the standard for digital television T2 DVB physical layer. The results show a greater tolerance for error in the transmission with UEP.
