Resumen
The innovation at a business level constitutes a strategic factor for the financial leverage of productivity and the achievement of great competitive advantages. Currently, Colombian companies, especially the SME, are not in a favorable position dealing with these topics. Besides, these companies are not aligned, in the national context, with the educational and technological policies. There exist a minimal or null knowledge of the companies concerning their innovative and technological capacities, which leads to a wrong execution, design and development of the business processes, without providing them a direction through a strategic alignment with the organizational aims. Most of the problem is due to the lack of information about the Colombian PYMES and the innovative and technological gaps which have to be overcome in order to be competitive in a global market.
