Resumen
Blended learning is defined such as an integration of different teaching ways that include face to face tools and spaces of synchronous and asynchronous communication online, preserving direct interaction between teachers and students. A literature review was carried out in the MEDLINE, EMBASE, Redalyc, Lilacs and ScienceDirect databases, with the descriptors “bimodal teaching, medical education, Information and Communication Technologies”, in Spanish and English. The incorporation of bimodality in education constitutes a challenge and a necessity that arises from the socioeconomic and cultural changes that are constantly taking place worldwide; its gradual implementation in different institutions has made the teaching and learning processes more flexible, in addition to improve the quality of education.
