The paper presents a proposal for improving a tool to est mate the innovation global coefficient in companies, based on studies carried out in 19 organizations of the Chilean metropolitan region over a period of three years. For this purpose a descriptive study was conducted with a non experimental design with a quantitative approach, the tool was applied in Santiago de Chile in organizations of various sectors quantifying 18 barriers to the development of innovative ideas or projects in an organization. The proposal to extension and improvement of the tool, enables better guide entrepreneurs proposing strategies and actions to overcome barriers or obstacles to innovation within companies or in specific work areas, these strategies are an improvement over the first version of the tool coefficient of innovation in relation to the actions to be taken to overcome the barriers found. Based on the obtained, it is concluded that the proposal is effective to improve decision-making within an organization.
