Resumen
Introduction: socioemotional competencies are the set of knowledge, skills and attitudes required to understand, express and appropriately regulate emotional phenomena. In the health professional, the management of emotions is a priority, this is associated with results in the patient's intervention and the well-being of the health professional. The present study sought to evaluate socioemotional competencies in a group of health professionals from Atlántico Colombia. Methodology: the research used a cross-sectional comparative descriptive quantitative design, the information was collected with the application of the Inventory of Socio-Emotional Competencies of Adults (ICSE), in a sample selected by convenience of 90 participants, employees of second level hospitals. Results: medium levels were found in most of the competencies evaluated and statistically significant differences between outpatient and emergency professionals. Discussion: in our study population, statistically significant differences were found in the competencies: empathy, assertiveness and optimism, between outpatient and emergency care health professionals. Conclusions: the skills of empathy, assertiveness and optimism are mostly developed in the experience of external consultation practice.
