Compromiso hematológico en pacientes con infección por virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana en un hospital universitario de la ciudad de Medellín, Colombia

    Resumen

    Hematological alterations are frequent in patients with human immunodeficiency virus (hiv), among them pancytopenia, peripheral cell destruction, among others, being anemia the most frequent finding. objective. To identify the most frequent hematological alterations in patients with hiv treated at a university hospital in Medellin, during 2017-2018 period. method. Descriptive cross-sectional study. hiv patients older than 18 years with a laboratory confirmed diagnosis were included. Those patients with absence of hematological variables in medical records were excluded. A non-probabilistic sampling of consecutive cases was carried out. Statistical analysis was carried out in the spss v.25 program, quantitative variables were calculated as mean, median with interquartile range and the qualitative absolute and relative frequencies. results. 30 medical records were reviewed, three were excluded. The most frequent alterations were anemia, eosinopenia and hypochromia with 51.9, 48.1 and 18.5%, respectively. Anemia was reported more frequently in patients with advanced disease, as well as in patients under management with atazanavir. conclusion. Anemia is a very frequent comorbidity in patients with hiv.
