Resumen
This article examines the internal and external structural health of welded aluminum joints using the friction-stirring process (FSW), applying surface and volumetric techniques of non-destructive tests (EnD); For this purpose, the variables of the welding process are characterized as: tool geometry, rotation speed and feed rate; using a multilevel factorial method, the size and configuration of the sample is determined; eighteen welded specimens are manufactured in accordance with AWS 17.3; for the control of the external health of the joints, visual inspection techniques and penetrating liquids are applied, and the internal health by means of industrial radiography according to the requirements of AWS D1.2 / D1.2M for welded joints; The results of the tests show that the lowest amount of external and internal discontinuities is recorded at average speed of rotation close to 1615 rpm and advances of 101 mm / min.
