Resumen
Doping is defined as the violation of the World Anti-Doping Code, which includes the consumption of prohibited substances demonstrated by the laboratory, carrying or trafficking these compounds or the attempt to evade any anti-doping control mechanism. In order to regulate the use of substances in athletes, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has developed multiple strategies that aim to monitor and comply with this code. Among the drugs to improve performance, the most used are anabolic steroids, and the prevalence of their use varies, being higher in men than in women, especially in leisure sports. The main motivation of this last group for the consumption of PEDs are aesthetic issues, it means with the aim of increasing muscle mass in less time and secondly improving performance in some sport.
