Resumen

Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana assumes an integrated pedagogical model, which is understood as a student-centered educational process. In this model, the interests, topics and problems posed by the sociocultural context are the main objects of dissemination. As a result, pedagogy is enhanced by the construction of personal and social meanings, the structuring of the curriculum, the knowledge that contributes to the intellectual, social and ethical development, and meaningful learning. Given these parameters, this paper aims to discuss the influence that an active, engaged participation in research ?seedbeds? could have on self-directed learning and on the skills that the university would like to instill in its students so that they might be prepared for the future, both on a personal and professional level.
