The frequency wavelet analysis is demonstrated using Coiflets scaling signals and wavelets, and an experimental two-wave mixing arrangement using a photorefractive BSO crystal. In our work we used the Coif12 wavelets to demonstrate the optical implementation of the frequency wavelet analysis. The enhancement of the local features of images is experimentally demonstrated in this scheme. The frequency content of the averaged image consists of low frequency values selected by a low-pass filtering of the original image. Similarly, the frequency content of the detail images consists of frequency values selected by a high or band-pass filtering of the original image. A brief exposition about the fundamental concepts of the frequency description of the wavelet analysis is presented, a physical model for the photorefractive wavelet processor is illustrated, and the experimental implementation is performed.
