Resumen
This article explores female slavery on the islands of San Andrés and Providencia and the forms of resistance represented in the novels Si Je puis. I will, if I can (2019) and Copra (2020) by the writer Hazel Robinson Abrahams. It begins with a conceptual approach to slavery, black feminism, and its location in the Caribbean. A brief historical overview of the archipelago; the coercive and free work carried out by black women, the dynamics of domination, spaces of resistance, and how the author’s literature compiles representations of these processes. In conclusion, it is possible to see that there are
forms of resistance not related to the women’s bodies regarding their sexuality, but in some ritual practices of the community. And, despite the emancipation of slaves in the archipelago, new forms of slavery appeared due to the possibilities of obtaining economic benefit from work performed in freedom.
