Los generadores de conocimiento dentro de los Sistemas Regionales de Innovación (SRI)

Generation and appropriation of knowledge and the incorporation into processes of technological development and social solutions is one of the great challenges of growing economies. The first element, the generation of knowledge, rests with the University and, in this context, the chapter develops a profile of universities and institutions of higher education in the Area Metropolitana del Valle de Aburrá (AMVA), based on criteria of comparative advantages identified in several world rankings of university quality, and proposes a set of variables that after being analyzed by means of statistical techniques are grouped looking for to find clúster of profiles of universities product of those advantages. As a result, three university clusters were found in AMVA.
