Resumen

Introduction. Gold mining and its exploitation has become a priority issue for sustainability; This economic activity plays a fundamental role in the global economy by providing raw materials and metals for various sectors, but is also associated with environmental and social impacts. Objective. The purpose of this article is to design a Comprehensive Mining Management Plan —PGMI— model, which guarantees obtaining the Fair Mining certificate in small-scale gold mining. Materials and methods. This research is of the descriptive type, with a deductive method, analytical perspective with relational emphasis and qualitative approach. In addition, a search of secondary sources, of an intentional type, was carried out in scientific databases, such as Scopus and Google Scholar, using Boolean operators and, among them, fair mining and sustainable development. Results and discussion. The actors involved in the process of improving mining operations were identified and a correlation was made between sustainable development, responsible mining and Fairmined Mining Certification. Conclusions. It was concluded that the PGMI model is an alternative to solve the economic and socio-environmental problems of small miners and that the creation of associative groups of small miners and territorial governance for mining units is necessary; This will reduce the costs not only of certification, but also the creation of a mining cluster that guarantees the optimization of costs and expenses inherent to operations, at the same time it will allow sharing administrative expenses that the development of the activity entails with high quality standards.
