Resumen

The activation of heritage is the starting point for various objectives. One of them is safeguarding which begins with inventoring and cataloging the cultural heritage of a country, región or community. This procedure faces particular challenges in the case of traditions that in Colombia are name "scary stories", spooky stories related to supernatural characters and spaces transmited by oral tradition. Most of the challenges have to do with financing, sustainability, absence of normativity adjusted to the needs of our particular oral tradition and research studies on the subject. Discussing the challenges and presenting the possibilities to overcome them by articulating the oral tradition to cultural tourism is the aim of this paper.
