Resumen

The objective is to modify the calculation of the Global Competitiveness Index (GI), eliminating the weighting by sub-indices according to the country's development stage. The descriptive analyzes by pillars and stages of development of the IGC according to report 2014-2015, and analysis of variance of the difference between the current and proposed IGC, are the elements that support the proposal. The results show that there is a significant difference between the stages. The weighting by sub-indices benefits countries with higher GDP, and affects countries of the first transition.
