Resumen
Redaire is a cooperation agreement among environmental authorities and local universities. Redaire started activities in 1993 and it has had a permanent activity in research and studying air pollution problems and air quality monitoring in the influence area. A workshop to generate an air quality strategic improvement plan for the Aburrá Valley was held at the end of 2003 to commemorate the first ten years of the network activities. All interested sectors came to the workshop: private sector, authorities, universities, communities, control offices, research centers and transportation managers. Monitoring results and Colombian environmental application experiences were critically analyzed and a workable air quality improvement plan was proposed. Control emphasis is switched from small fixed point sources toward mobile transportation sources and fugitive areas in construction activities. Perspectives are brilliant mainly in setting a paradigm model in cooperation with the country. New problems have arrived in the working agenda of Redaire such as: residues incinerators emissions, carbon monoxide and ozone monitoring and control, and urban noise evaluation and control.
