    Resumen

Historically, the municipality of San Roque has been marked by mining activity. However, the arrival of the company Anglo Gold Ashanti in 2006-covered by the Mining Code of 2001-has produced changes in its territorial dynamics as the privatization of rural roads and the enclosure of traditional places. This situation illustrates the conflicts in the territory between the economic interests of accumulation –having the State as guarantor supporting the large-scale mining activities, through instruments like the Mining Code of 2001 and the mining plans-and the survival needs of a rural population of mining tradition. The paper concludes that the current proposal of political and economic agents of the Gramalote mining project is on the way to usufruct the territory, ignoring its socio-historical and natural conditions.
