    Resumen

The use of sensors with metamaterials cells has become a common use practice. The frequency of the prove wave determines the number and size of the sensor. We report the results of simulations for a particular size and geometry of a metamaterial cell, were a small range of frequencies for which the transmission coefficient is invariant under cell’s deformations and the frequencies that can be used for sensing are below this critical frequency. Since the dimensions and geometric of the resonators (SRR) and thin wires (TW) determines the frequency of the magnetic and plasmonic resonances, we use deformations of the cells as sensing strategy, we propose a specific left-handed metamaterial pressure sensor using a deformable dielectric substrate loaded with TW and SRRs. We analyzed the modification of the transmission coefficient when the cell dimensions are changed, and show how critical is the choice of the sensing frequency.
