    Resumen

This document presents the S curves as a model to evaluate the diffusion and evolution of a technology, product or process. The analysis in this case is focused in how an S curve can be used to measure performance variables from the service sector specifically for the Colombian financial sector. Four parameters associated with the financial sector were selected, two of them related to the services distribution network and the other two related to banking products. From a group of S curve models it was tested if for these four variables there are models that represented in valid way the data for the financial sector which finally was true. Furthermore it was verified which model has a best fit to each data subset and which differences exists among the models that fit each case. For each case there is a best fit model but there are two models that fit for all the studied cases which mean that the characteristics of these models are more appropriate for the variables of the financial sector.
